Electrical Engineer as Project Manager for Power System Studies (m/f/x)

We are looking for a Power System Expert with deep expertise in Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) studies using PSCAD, complemented by solid experience in steady-state and dynamic power system analysis (PSS/E and/or PowerFactory). This position offers the opportunity to work on complex and high-impact engineering and consulting projects across the globe, contributing to the technological advancement of modern power systems.

Your Tasks

  • Conduct advanced EMT simulations for power electronic converters, HVDC systems, grid-forming/grid-following controls, and renewable integration
  • Conduct steady-state, short-circuit, load-flow, and dynamic studies using tools such as PSSE/DIgSILENT PowerFactory
  • Develop and contribute to technical proposals, including study methodologies, work breakdowns, and technical clarifications
  • Participate in client workshops and technical discussions, ensuring alignment with project requirements and compliance needs
  • Prepare, review, and evaluate grid code compliance analyses for renewable energy plants, energy storage, conventional generation, industrial facilities, and transmission expansion
  • Support international consulting assignments related to HVAC and HVDC technologies, including feasibility studies, grid connection studies and transmission grid development strategies
  • Produce high-quality reports and documentation with clear, well-structured technical arguments.

Your Profile

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field
  • Expertise in power electronics and control systems
  • Minimum eight years of experience in power system studies, grid expansion, EMT simulations, HVDC/FACTS, renewable integration, and master plan development
  • Strong proficiency in PSCAD and one of RMS tools, either PSSE or PowerFactory is mandatory
  • Programming capabilities, particularly in Python, for automating studies and data processing
  • Ability to work independently and manage deliverables in timely manner
  • Excellent communication skills, including technical writing and client interaction
  • Previous consulting experience is highly beneficial
  • Business fluent in English and confident working in an international environment
  • Willingness to travel within Germany and in other countries
